Doctors removed 40 knives from man's stomach

Doctors at a hospital in India were surprised to discover 40 knives in a man’s stomach recently.

A team of surgeons at the hospital in Amritsar in north western India recovered the knives after he was admitted to the facility with severe stomach pain.
The 42-year-old man, a police officer, revealed that he had been eating the cutlery for the past two months. Dr Jatinder Malhotra, managing director of The Corporate Hospital, said: "Patient's ultrasound revealed a growth in his stomach.

"To confirm the diagnosis, an endoscopy was done which showed a few metallic knives inside the stomach. After that a CT Scan of the abdomen was done, which showed multiple knives inside the stomach. In my 20 years of practice, this is the most dreadful surgery I have ever seen or done." Dr Malhotra added that the man was now out of danger.

When the CEOs of the world’s top corporations are fired, often for running the business into ruin, they often land in retirement with a severance package that the rest of us buy lottery tickets for. These severance deals are so big they call them golden parachutes, since you crash to earth and still have extreme wealth given to you. Hey, you’d retire if you had a hundred million dollars in severance pay, wouldn’t you? But some CEOs even then go on to other jobs!

When Tom Freston couldn’t manage to acquire MySpace in 2006 for his company Sumner Redstone, they fired him in an embarrassingly public display. Alleged cake-kicker now accused of assault in ice cream store

A woman accused of drop-kicking a birthday cake has now been charged with the assault of an ice cream shop worker in Royal Oak, Michigan. Tricia Ann Kortes, 46, was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.

The ice cream shop employee says Kortes was mad because they didn't have the flavor she wanted. Police say surveillance video shows Kortes reaching over the counter at Ray's Ice Cream to hit the employee back in July 2015.
Kortes is also facing disorderly conduct charges for allegedly drop-kicking a "Superman v. Batman" cake in June 2016 at a Kroger in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She pleaded no-contest in that case. In 2015, she was also charged with assault and battery in Troy.

She later pled to disorderly person and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and attend anger management. Online records show that Kortes was also charged with an assault in 2003 in King County, Washington. The same records indicate she was placed on probation for a year.

Woman suing police and city after her home was destroyed during 10-hour standoff with her dog

A woman from Canyon County, Idaho, is suing the Caldwell Police Department, several officers and the city for damaging her property during a 10-hour standoff at her home in 2014. Police thought an armed suspect was in the house, but the only occupant was her dog. Shaniz West has demanded $350,000 to settle her tort claim against police officers and the city. A tort claim is a precursor required by state law before filing a lawsuit against a county or government agency. West’s claim, made in April, was not approved or denied within 90 days, so she sued early this month.

West said she came back to her Nampa home at 2:20pm on Aug. 11, 2014, after taking her son to register for first grade. She found Caldwell police in her yard during a search for her ex-boyfriend, Fabian Salinas. She said she gave police her house keys. She also gave them permission to enter the house and arrest Salinas, whom she thought might be inside. Salinas had come by to pick up his belongings as she was leaving to take her son to school registration, but she told him to be gone by the time she came back, the lawsuit said. An officer’s incident report obtained through a public records request said that officers were told Salinas might have had a BB gun on him, West denies saying that, and that Salinas was a suspect in a theft of guns, some of which had not been recovered.
During what followed, “police repeatedly exceeded the authority Ms West had given them, breaking windows, crashing through ceilings, and riddling the home with holes from shooting canisters of tear gas, destroying most of Ms. West and her children’s personal belongings,” the lawsuit said. Police officers and the department’s SWAT team surrounded the home for 10 hours “and engaged in a standoff, with the incorrect belief that Salinas was inside,” the lawsuit said. “Ms West’s pet dog, Blue, was the only occupant of the home.” The standoff ended at about midnight after officers searched all parts of the home. They found the dog in a back bedroom and turned it over to animal control, according to a police report. Police caught Salinas a week later in Meridian. “When Ms West was allowed to re-enter the home, she found the house destroyed,” the lawsuit said.
“Her and her children’s personal belongings were saturated with tear gas and littered with debris from the walls and ceilings, and broken glass from the windows.” West did not own the house; she rented it. She had moved in two weeks before. The lawsuit said she was unable to live in the home for two months. She stayed with friends and family, and her first-grader had to change schools. At the time, West had two children, a 6-year-old and an 8-month-old. She was pregnant with a third child. Nobody helped West clean up the mess, according to the settlement offer sent in April. Police paid for a three-week stay in a hotel, the offer said. West’s lawsuit seeks an undetermined amount of compensation for being displaced from her home, the cost of repairing and replacing her damaged personal property, and general damages for pain, suffering and emotional distress. She also wants punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.

Three crocodiles left at school during break in

Three malnourished female saltwater crocodiles were left inside a rural school in Australia's Northern Territory on Sunday morning.

The intruders smashed their way into Taminmin High School's front office, about 30km south of Darwin, leaving the unexpected packages ranging in size from 1.5 to 2m.
Alarms alerted the school caretaker who called police at about 5am. The crocodiles were muzzled with garden ties. Wildlife officers said the crocodiles were in reasonable health but malnourished.
Police Duty Superintendent Rob Burgoyne said forensics were examining evidence including CCTV footage, which showed four males unlawfully entering the school. Anyone with information about the croc dumping is urged to contact police.
